INJURED IN MINE

STRUCK BY IRON CASTING. FRACTURED SKULL SUSTAINED. A fractured skull was sustained by Mr. James Stirling, of Huntly, 33 years, at the Glen Afton Collieries on Saturday afternoon. While standing underneath the scaffolding of some new screens which were being erected at the mine, a large piece of iron casting, dropped accidentally from above, struck Mr. Stirling on the head. The injured man was admitted to the Waikato hospital, where he is progressing favourably.
