BRITISH POLITICS.

COAL MINERS’ BILL

THE LIBERAL PARTY. TO ABSTAIN FROM VOTING. United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. —Copyright. LONDON, March 27. The Liberal Parliamentary Party met to-day. It decided not to move and not to support any vital amendments at the report stage of the Coal Mines Bill, also to abstain from voting in the division on the third reading. Those present referred to the uncertain position of l-lie Naval Conference as justification for the Liberals’ forbearance toward the Government. It is now admitted in Liberal quarters that negotiations are proceeding with the Labour Parly with a view to co-operation conditionally upon the passing of an Electoral Bill, under which the Liberals would have a belter chance of securing representation at Westminster.

The result of these negotiations may extend the Labour Government’s period of office two years and even longer.
