HEAD-ON COLLISION
CYCLES CRASH AT PENROSE.
FOUR PEOPLE INJURED. AUCKLAND, Saturday. Four persons were admitted to the Auckland Hospital last evening as a result of a violent head-on collision between two motor-cycles carrying pillion riders, on the Great South Road at Penrose. The names of the injured are:— Mr. Allan Wilkin, single, aged 21, of Papakura, compound fracture of the thigh and fracture of the skull; unconscious; condition very grave. Mr. Herbert Crcwther, married, aged 28, of Otahuhu, serious head injuries; unconscious; condition grave. Mr. Leonard Aukett, single, aged 19, of Papakura, slight concussion; condition not serious. Miss Annie Campbell, single, aged 20, ol' Otahuhu, slight concussion and injury to the face; condition not serious. Mr. Grewther is Miss Campbell’s brother-in-law. The crash of the collision was sufficiently loud to be heard 500 yards away.
Both cycles were completely wrecked.
