GRETNA GREEN ANVlL— Recent cable news stated that, The British Government has been asked to prevent girls from becoming the victims of Gretna Green marriages. The photograph shows Mr. Rennison, the blacksmith-priest of Gretna Green, behind the anvil which has played a prominent part in runaway since 1751, a mock marriage being staged at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital for the occasion- This is the first occasion the famous anvil has crossed the border into 'England.
