ONEWHERO REQUEST.

GOODS SHED WANTED. SECOND BEST PAYING LINE. (Special Reporter). RANGIRIRI, Thursday. The assistance of the Minister of Public Works, Hon. E. A. Ransom, was sought, last night in getting a goods shed erected at the Qnewhero railway station. ' Mr W. Lee Martin, M.P., pointed, out the difficulties which the settlers experienced when- goods, particularly manures and articles of : a perishable nature, were left unprotected in the trucks until collected. The difficulties were heightened by the fact that there was no public telephone connection with the station, so that the settlers could not discover, without journeying to the station (many miles in some instances), whether their goods had arrived. Often such journeys were fruitless, thus entailing o great loss of time. The speaker pointed out that while the RolowaroGlen Afton line was the second best paying line in the Dominion, it was the worst served. The direct request was made by Mr D. McKinnon, who mentioned that a similar request was refused by the Railway Department 18 months ago. The Minister said he realised the value of a goods shed, hut all these things had to be viewed from their economic aspect. He would, however, be pleased to place the representations before the Minister of Railways.
