OBSTETRICAL APPEAL.
HAMILTON’S RESPONSE. TOTAL REACHES £370. The Ilamillon contributions to the Obstetrical Endowment Appeal Fund total £370 15s. This amount comprises donations from the Boiough Council and medical practitioners, and donations made as a result of the liouse-to-housc canvass. There are still a few small amounts promised to come in, and several outlying districts have yet to forward returns. It is hoped by the local executive that the remaining £l3O will be forthcoming by the end of this month. The business area of the town will be canvassed shortly, and sympathisers are reminded that a subscription list is open at the Waikato Times Office.
LADY BLEDISLOE’S INTEREST.
PROMISE OF SUPPORT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Dr. Doris Gordon, secretary of the Obstetrical Society, had an interview with Lady Bledisloe yesterday. Her Excellency showed the keenest interest in and sympathy with the movement, which she promised to assist in every possible way, and expressed her pleasure at hearing of the widespread support which the appeal is receiving throughout the country, ROMAN CATHOLIC SUPPORT. STATEMENT BY ARGHBiSHOP. (By Telegraph.—PreSs Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The following statement from Archbishop Redwood has been made with reference to the obstetrical appeal:— •*As head of the liierachy of the Roman Catholic Church in New Zealand, I most gladly give forcible utterance’ of my personal approval and sincere hopes for the full success of the obstetrical endowment appeal, which is at present before the people of the Dominion. No endeavour can be too great to uphold and promote the sacred duly of motherhood.”
