OBITUARY.
MRS. ANNIE CUMMINGS. The death has occurred of Mrs. Annie Cummings, an early settler in the Tauranga district. Mrs. Cummings was in her 80th. year. On the outbreak of war in the Waikato in 1863, she came to New Zealand with her step-father, who joined th® troops. MR. JAMES ADAM CAPPER. The death has occurred of Mr. James Adam Capper, the last survivor of the Titi, or Bald Hill, fight a£ Mauku, on October 23, 1863. MR. WILLIAM DOUGLAS. AUCKLAND, Wednesday. The death of a well-known settler, I Mr. William Douglas, senr., occurred j at Kohekohe, Waiuku, at the age of j years. j • ‘ MR. E. A. GOODGER. WAIPUKURAU, Tuesday. ' The death occurred this afternoon of Mr. Ernest Albert Goodger, aged 51. He had been Mayor for eight years, president of the 'Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the School Committee, and of the Central Hawke’s May Rugby Union and the Amateur Athletic" Club. Mr. Goodger formed and was first chairman of the Central Hawke’s Bay Power Board. He stood against Sir George Hunter for the Waipawa electorate in 1928 as an in*, dependent candidate. MR. ROBERT STEVENS. PALMERSTON N., Tuesday. A settler, well known in the Mana watu district. Mr. Robert Stevens, haa * died at the age of SO i'eaxa.
