VALEDICTORY.
FUNCTION AT MQRRINSVILLE. TOWN CLERK FAREWELLED. A pleasant function took place in the Morrinsville council chamber, when the Mayor and councillors met to bid farewell to Mr. C. H. McPherson, presented Mr. McKay with a travelling rug, and wished Mr. and Mrs. .McKay success in their new home. “it has been a very great pleasure to work with Mr. Mckay, not only in ins capacity as town clerk, but in other capacities," said Mr. McPherson. Mr. Chapman said he had worked with Mr. .McKay on the council for nine years, and there had never been any friction between councillors and the clerk. The other councillors endorsed what had 'been said by the Mayor and Councillor Chapman. Mr. McKay, in thanking the councillors for their gift arid the kind things they had said about him, said the council had always worked together pleasantly, which had made his duties a pleasure. The function closed with cheers and the singing of “For He’s a Jolty Good Fellow.”
