NGARUAWAHIA NEWS.
CATHOLIC BAZAAR. A GREAT SUCCESS. The two-day bazaar which was held last week" in aid of tlic convent funds was a great success in cvnrj way. A great amount of work had been expended on the preparations, and llic display, particularly in [he fancy goods stall, was of a very 'high siandayd. The following were the stall-hold-ers:—Produce: Mcsdames \\allhank, Prendcrgast, Fitness. Fancy: Mesdames McGruer, Lovell, Jew, Roorley, Hunter and Hickling.. Plain: Mcsdames Garry and Katavitch. Convent stall: Misses Foulds and Galium assisted by pupils. Sweets: Mcsdames McKeown, Feeney, J. Cavanagh, Tarplett, Welsh. Hoop-la: Messrs W. Cavanagh and Wilson. Tea; Mrs E. Cavanagh, assisted by Misses Cleary and Curley and Mrs W. Cavanagh. The bazaar was officially opened by Mr W. Lee Martin, M.P., who in his remarks congratulated the ladies on the results of the work and wished them every success.
On Thursday evening items were rendered by the pupils of the Convent School. The winners of the various art union prizes were: —Luncheon set, Mrs T. Tullctt (Glen Afton) ; special supper cloth, Mr A. Williams (lioroLiu) ; d’oylcy, Mrs G. Thrupp (Gordonton) ; hand-painted fire-screen, Nancy Blair '(Ngaruawahia) painted cushion, Ailecn O’Connor (Ngaruawahia) ; luncheon set, Mrs J, Myles (Ngaruawahia).
