Private advices states that FlightLieutenants Piper and Kaye, the New Zealand airmen who are en route to Australia, arrived at Atamboea, from Sourabaya, last night, and expect to reach Darwin to-night. He dew from Karachi, 5000 miles, in IS days. Mr Chawla, who is only 17, learned to Ilyin England. He does not qualify for the "prize of £SOO offered by the Aga Khan, which is for the first solo flight by an Indian between India and England, as lie was accompanied by a mechanic, Adscy. However, a message from Delhi says the Government of India lias made a grant of 7500 rupees (about £560) to Air Chawla, as be is the first Indian to accomplish a dight from Karachi to England. The Governor-General, Lord Irwin, personally cabled his congratulations to the airman.
