During the recent visit of Mr Barlow Cadbury to New Zealand, opportunity was taken to approach him with reference to securing the services of Mr Clifford Ball, England’s premier carillonneur, for the opening recitals in Wellington of Wellington’s war memorial carillon. Word has now been received by cable that the proposal has been agreed to, and Messrs Cadbury Bros., Ltd., have offered the services of Air Ball at what practically amounts to no cost to New Zealand. Mr Ball’s salary and travelling expenses are being provided by the firm. Mr Ball is the official carillonneur for the Bournville carillon, and Cadburys frequently made liis services available for playing the Wellington carillon at the Newcastle-on-Tyne exhibition. He also played the carillon at the recent recitals in Hyde Park, London. It- is estimated the official opening of Hie carillon at Wellington will he between next November .and February.
