BIRTHDAY PARTY.
.ENJOYABLE SURPRISE EVENING. -An enjoyable little surprise evening was spent at the home of Mr and Mrs Norman Grant, of Queen’'s Avenue, on Wednesday last, the occasion being a “combined” birthday ' party—StarkGrant. Tables were set aside for bridge, while musical items were contributed by Mrs Grant and Miss Stark (piano), Messrs W. King and T. Janewar (violin). Songs by Messrs Farrell and Carlyon and recitations, with a musical dialogue by Misses Mason and Judge were greatly enjoyed. Those present were Mesdames Stark, Mason, Stockman, Wyatt, Janeway and Turthill, Misses Stark, Mason, Stockman, Fahey, Farrell chland’s.p Taylor, Judge, Sim, Chisholm (Timaru), Keats, Smith and Davidson, and Messrs King, Janeway, Stark, Mason, Stockman, Fahey, Farrell (Wanganui), Robson, Carlyon, Turthill, Smith, Craig, and Keats. After a daintily-served%upper had been partaken of a very pleasant evening was brought to a close.
