Reginald Dandy In the Talkies.

John Garrick, who is (he star of "The Sky Hawk,” the big aviation talkie, now showing in New Zealand, was in the Dominion some time ago in the stage presentation of “Rose Marie," when he played the male lead of Jim Kenyon. His name was then Reginald Dandy, but he has since changed it to John Garrick, beoause the former name was too similar to that of Reginald Denny. Bigger Screens. Bigger screens on which wider film will be projected have already been predicted. An experiment along these lines, with a screen 36 feet wide instead of the 20ft screen previously in use, is being successfully carried out at the Regal, Marble Arch, London. Here the final scenes of “Gold Diggers of Broadway” have been shown on this larger screen with excellent effect. This, like the “magnascopc” used several times at the Plaza and the Carlton, is of course ■only a slop on the way to the improved magnification the use of wider fiims will bring. But certainly bigspectacular scenes call for, and are vastly improved i»\ thfi use. qf liigger screens. ~
