Galll-Curcl Hissed. Because of the unfriendly attitude of the newspapers Madame GalliCurci has cancelled the remainder of her European tour and sails for New York (says a message from Paris). She declares that the Budapest newspapers said she was receiving exorbitant fees and taking the mone\ to rich America. As a result of this campaign there was considerable antagonism, her audiences whistling and hissing. “I am certain such a thing could not happen in England," she said. Eminent Violinist Coming. Musicians will be interested in the announcement that John Dunn, the celebrated English violinist, will give recitals in Hamilton shortly, under the direction of Mr Henry Hayward. In Auckland recently Mr Dunn gave two concerts which aroused tremendous enthusiasm. Especially interesting were his appearances in the Concerto in G Minor (Max Bruch) and the Andante and Finale from Concerto (Mendelssohn) with the Bohemian Orchestra. The Auckland Herald says: A rare musical privilege interested a crowded audience at the Town Hall concert chamber last night, when Mr John Dunn, an English violinist of high attainments, joined with a section of the Bohemian Orchestra, under Mr Colin Muston, to produce a musical treat for w’hich all present were grateful. On the intimate platform of the concert chamber Mr Dunn's faultless musicianship was appreciated at its best. . . . The accomplished soloist was repeatedly recalled during the evening. Mr Dunn will be assisted by_ Miss Sara Stacpoole, soprano, and ’ Miss Elsie May, accompanist.

A Visiting Orchestra. Epi Shalfoon’s Melody Boys’ Orchestra, from Rotorua, will play at the Regent Ballroom on Wednesday, April 16. This orchestra of eight players has gained an enviable reputation for the excellence of its music, and the opportunity of dancing to its wellplayed melodies will doubtless be eagerly availed oL
