NOVEL NECKLETS.
AS WORN IN PARIS. For day wear Paris favours necklets of precious African woods in gold or silver settings, some heavy for the strictly sports ensemble, others carved into a frosty lace effect to wear with less severe outfits. The heavy' choker made of numerous strands of tiny T seed pearls threaded and twisted into a coil is smart, too. These generally accompany the afternoon models and show up marvellously against the dull black frocks so dear to the smart Parisienne’s 'heart. But certainly the most admired of all are those which match or contrast with elegant evening gowns. Long strands of rhinestones alternating with every variety of coloured stones, rubies, emeralds, sapphires—ail the treasures of India are there for madame’s choice. For the debutante very tight chokers of brilliantly coloured glass beads are shown. They are worn wound close about the throat, and arc very Haltering to the lines of the neck. One famous dressmaker makes a choker of huge carved wooden heads for day wear, and for evening carved coral beads are interspersed with beads of carved jada.
