TAMAHERE.

Explorer's Speech. On Saturday afternoon the children of Tamahere school were fortunate enough to he among the listeners to Rear-Admiral Byrd’s interesting speech. This was possible through the kindness of Mr Turnbull, who invited the pupils of the school to his residence to listen-in. Mr Wallace arranged with the parents to convey the children to Mr Turnbull's residence. The majority of the children were able to follow the speech quite well, ■the boys especially enjoying RearAdmiral Byrd’s description of his experiences. At the conclusion the children expressed their thanks by giving Mr Turnbull three hearty cheers.
