TRAINING FOR SEA.
REQUEST TO MINISTER. FOR SHIPS’ OFFICERS. (By Telegraph.’—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. The lack of opportunity for hoys to train for the sea since the Government gave up toe Amokura some years ago was the subject of a deputation to Hon. G. W. Farbes to-day. It was mentioned that the Union Steam Ship Company was prepared to hand over the (Jorinna as a harbour training ship, anti Messrs Scales and Company had offered the barque liewa for the same purpose. A suggestion was also made that the Tutaeakai and the Maui Pomare should carry a certain number of boys for training. In promising to investigate the matter Mr Forbes said he would confer with the Minister of Marine, lie agreed that the provision of a harbour training ship would meet toe position best, provided full training was given.
