RUGBY FOOTBALL.
OLD BOYS’ CLUB. The annual meeting of the Old Boys Football Club was held last evening, there being a large and cnthusiaslic attendance. Our report of the meeting is unavoidably held over till Monday. NGARUAWAHIA CLUB. A Rugby meeting, preliminary to the annual general meeting of the Ngaruwahia Rugby Football Club, was held on Thursday evening, Dr. Isdalc presiding. The main point of Ihc meeting was the election of delegates to represent the Ngaruawahia Club at the annual general meeting of the Taupiri subUnion to be convened on the 31st inst. The chairman’s remarks paid tribute to the work done last season by Messrs Hall and Christie as delegates from the Ngaruawahia Club, and it was proposed and carried that the same delegates be re-elected for the ensuing season. Mr Hall outlined the splendid competition offered by the Rugby code in the Taupiri Union. He spoke of the advantages which local players would derive by the amalgamation of the two codes. The position had been discussed among delegates from both codes, and the League delegates wore placing the position before their players. In revising the Rugby posiiion of last season he mentioned that the registrations had numbered over 300, and of these 4 5 per cent were players who would never have played football but for the inception of the Rugby code. As it is now 100 late lo enter upon extensive grounds improvements it was resolved that a formal letter be written Lo the Borough Council with a request that the main depressions on Paterson Park football ground be filled with soil and turf, that the grass on the field be cut and cleared, and that the field receive a thorough barrowing. Mr J. S. Johnston was appointed—as a councillor —to rcpiesent the club in placing the matter before the Domain Board at the earliest possible request before the council —namely, that the putting of the remainder of Paterson Park in playing order be entered upon, owing to the great number of matches that, under the present conditions, have to be staged on the available playing area-
