The Norwegian whaler Neilsen Alonze and five chasers arrived from a five months’ cruise in the Far South. The whales captured yielded 55,000 barrels of oil. valued at £230,000. Only 37 fish were taken in a six weeks’ stay in the Ross Sea. The fleet returned to the outskirts of the ice pack, where 2G fish were caughl in one day. Only two true Sperm whales were taken during the cruise.
