HOPE DWINDLING.
ITALY AND FRANCE. DIFFERENCES NOT ADJUSTED. FEARS FOR THE CONFERENCE. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel.—Copyright. (Received March 22, 1125 a.m.) LONDON, March 21. A strong impression prevails that the middle of next week will bring to the surface the real position regarding the naval conference. It will not be the least surprising if is announced that hope has been abandoned of getting France and Italy into line. This feeling Is heightened by the absence of news from Paris as to whether M. Tardieu is returning, coupled with the l'act that the remaining French delegates are going home to-night. Mr Ramsay MacDonald and Mr H. L. Stimson this morning discussed disarmament, and afterwards the Prime Minister had a conversation with Mr Wakatsuki (Japan) on the same subject. The King received Mr MacDonald in customary audience at Buckingham Palace to-day. The Premier then departed for Chequers, and will return to London on Sunday evening. PARIS, March 21.
M. Tardieu has announced that he will return to London when the Conference takes a definite turn.
