STOLEN CAR.

DESPERATE BOYS. ATTEMPT SUICIDE WHEN CAUGHT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Saturday. On Thursday night a constable recognised a small car driven by two boys as one which had been reported stolen. As they did not hold his order to stop he jumped on the car, took charge, and had it driven to the police station where they were left in a room for a moment, while the constable consulted the sergeant In. charge. When he returned he saw one of the boys In the act of drinking from a bottle, the contents of which were poisonous. He snatched the bottle from the boy, and rushed him to hospital, where he is now recovering. He will later be brought before the children’s court.

Of Rototuna, who to-day was reelected unopposed as president of the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association. This is Mr Martin’s second term of office.
