LECTURE BY MR W. HORTON. AUCKLAND, Friday. Horton, of I-la.mil—
lon. Mi’ Horton was support- 1 :! by Mr J Nome Bell, sen. Mr Horton suggested that an advi- j sory committee of experts, preferably > three members who could each take j charge of separate departments, namely, chemical, grass and practical, should be set up. He urged the use of sulphate of ammonia treatment on proper lines. Results should not he looked for in a day, but progress would be noted from the start of the treatment with the chemical. Spiked roller treatment for the aeration of the soil was also advocated. Mr Bell recounted his experience of bowling green management. He was firmly convinced that the treatment as advocated by Mr Horton, and in use on the Hamilton greens, was wiLhout a doubt the real solution of how to get and maintain proper bowling greens. At the conclusion of the addresses, Mr Goldicutt, president of the Auckland Centre, moved a hearty vote of thanks to the speakers, who intimated they were to visit Auckland again in order that the full measure of the Waikato system might be thoroughly understood.
