THROUGH WITH FLYING.
AEROPLANES DISCARDED. FUTURE POLAR EXPEDITIONS. SIR H. WILKINS’ DECISION. United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel.—Copyright (Received March 21, 9.50 a.m.) NEW YORK, March 20. Sir 11. Wilkins states he has given up the use of aeroplane in all further expeditions in Hie Arctic and Antarctic. “ The aeroplane is suitable for preliminary reconnoitring,” he said; "it is not, however, of any use 'for making detailed surveys or scientific studies of land already discovered. No doubt a great deal of reconnaissance work remains to be done both in tho Arctic and in Antarctic, hut so far as I am concerned I am through with flying in either place.”
