LONDON WOOL SALES.

The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated I'.dh instant, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Wool.—Sales opened yesterday with large attendance of Home and Continental buyers. Merino selection poor, crossbred well represented with the exception of fine halfbreds. Following the decline, overseas, merino f> per cent, to 7i per cent., and crossbred fully 10 per cent, below last series' closing rates, but competition keen on lower basis and good clearance effected. One hundred and sixty-four thousand bales available for series, of which Australian 78,000, New Zealand 51.000. South African 50,000.
