HAMILTON TAXIS.

STAND PROBLEM AGAIN. CAUSING CONGESTION. “The time has arrived when the Hamilton taxi stand should be removed to a less congested area,” reported TrafTio Inspector Courtney in a letter 1 o the Hamilton Borough Council lasi evening. The inspector said the presence of taxis were a hindrance to vehicles delivering material to the new portion of the Hamilton Hotel nearing completion. The taxi proprietors on the stand realised that a shift was necessary. He proposed that the first car on the stand remain on its present position in front of the phone box, the second car to stand in Victoria Street south of Marlboro’ Place, and 1 tic remaining cars 1o stand on the south side of Marlboro' Place facing Victoria Street. After the closing hours nr business premises in the vicinity three cars would he permitted to stand in Victoria Street south of Marlboro’ Place. He added that the area, in Garden Place opposite Frear's Buildings, and now used as a parking area, would he a more convenient site for the Garden Place stand. It would he necessary to restrict the number on the stand to four and permit the cars to face Victoria Street. The report was received and handed ever io the General Purposes Committee for consideration.
