HOWDEN CUP GAMES
FLAY ON HAMILTON LAWNSLEADING PLAYERS ENGAGED. The champion of champion games which were commenced yesterday on the Hamilton Croquet Club’s lawns were continued this morning, when several more games were completed. The competition is being contested by four of Hamilton’s leading players, and the results are on the basis of the best two games out of three throughout. The concluding results of,yesterday's play were as follows: — Second Round. Airs Evans 26 v. Airs Coombes 24. Airs Bartlett 26 v. Aliss Jones 14. Third Round. Airs Coombes 26 v. Aliss Jones 14. Airs Evans 26 v. Airs Bartlett 22. This game was particularly wellcontested. Honours were even when Airs Evans picked up a brilliant long shot, which gave her the match. To-day’s Play. This morning Airs Coombes and Aliss Jones continued their second game, which resulted in a victory for Airs Coombes, with the scores 26 —3. Mesdames Evans and Bartlett also met in their second encounter, and provided an exhibition full of interest to the spectators. Both players were in good form, and throughout the game were evenly placed. The concluding stages were particularly exciting, Airs Evans picking up a long shot at the last hoop, lo secure victory. The scores were 26—22 in Airs Evans’ favour. It is expected lhat the final stages will be readied this afternoon.
