The necessity of some person or persons in a factory, an engineering firm or department, where accidents are likely to occur having some knowledge of first aid is being recognised everywhere, and in most large firms and institutions there is a first aid man. The St. John Ambulance Brigade, whjeh performs excellent work the year round, is the headquarters of such men and many have been trained and instructed by it.
Last evening a very successful meeting was held in the Railway Hall, Frankton, to consider forming a unit of the St. John Ambulance Brigade in Frankton. Mr. 11. Turner presided over a large attendance.
There were 31 present, who desired to become members of the brigade, and it was decided to form the unit and call it the Frankton Division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Among Ihc proposed members are employees of the railway sheds, railway yards, bacon factory, box factory and the two dairy factories at Frankton. A deputation of Frankton- women attended the meeting and asked for assistance in forming a nursing division, to be run in conjunction with Die brigade. It was unanimously decided to form a Nursing Corps. The inaugural meeting for the purpose of electing officers for the Ambulance Brigade and the Nursing Corps will be held in the Railway Hall on Wednesday, and all interested arc asked to attend.
