WORKERS’ COMPENSATION
POSSIBLE AMENDMENTS TO ACT. COMMITTED OF INVESTIGATION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The first meeting of 'the committee set up by the Minister of Labour to consider possible amendments to the Workers’ Compensation Act was held this morning. Hon. W. Veitch presided at the opening and afterwards the chair was taken by Mr. S. G. Smith, M.P. Mr. Vei'tch said the Government did not lay down any order of reference for the guidance of the committee, nor did it suggest that the committee should take any particular line in the investigations, lie- was convinced that every 'member of -the committee had a sense of responsibility, and would bring his -best judgment to bear on ttie problem, looking at it from the humanitarian aspect. A general invitation had been issued to those who desired to give evidence to do so. It was' generally agreed that fbo proceedings should be private. A summary of what had been done would be issued from time to lime.
