SWIMMING

OLD BOYS’ CLUB. FINAL CLUB NIGHT. Swimming is becoming more popular each year, and the season just finished has been a record one. Among new clubs formed in the town was the Old Boys' Club, and that club enjoyed a very successful season. Club nights have been held each week and the good attendance each night proved the popularity of the pastime. Last evening there was a full attendance of members for the final olub night of the season and tho oups donated during the season wero competed for. Mr E. Clayton-Greene, in making the presentations, thanked the donors of the trophies on behalf of the club, remarking that with the trophies in sight the swimming was particularly keen. In view of the successful carnival which the club ran In conjunction with the Hamilton Ladies’ Club, added Mr Clyaton-Greene, it has been decided to hold two • carnivals next season, one in January and one in February. Also, next season, It was proposed to inaugurate water polo on club nights. The Pascoe Cup for 66 2-3yds was won by C. d’Auvergne and the Len Jackson Cup for 220yds was carried off by N. Ross. P. Robison was successful in winning the Pinfold Points Cup for the swimmer who gained the most points in the club races during the season.
