CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

MEETING AT TE AROHA. JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS. Mr 'C. Rayner, the newly-elected president, presided at the monthly meeting of the Te Aroha Chamber of Commerce. There was a larger attendance of members than usual. The chairman reported on the negotiations with the Agricultural and Pastoral Association in the matter of jubilee celebrations. The latter had launched a Queen Carnival, and it was thought that if the Chamber of Commerce and Borough Council co-oper-ated a more successful issue would result, and be of benefit to the A. and P. Committee and the jubilee fund. It was suggested at the meeting that the A. and P. Association receive 75 per cent, and the Jubilee Committee 25 per cent, of the proceeds of the conjoined effort. Although the Queen Carnival would be held earlier in the year the association was not adverse to deferring the crowning of the Queens until November to fit in with the To Aroha Jubilee celebrations. Mr B. Coulter said he agreed with the suggestion that they should cooperate, and Mr L. Maokie was in favour of town and country working together in the matter of the celebrations.

:Mr Gus. Walsh said the sports bodies had held three meetings. Mr Strange had attended one of the meetings, and staled the objects of the A. and P. Association in running the Queen Carnival. With the co-oper-ation of the Chamber of Commerce, Borough Council anil sports bodies in view there had been no suggestion made as to the four being allocated only 25 per cent. Te Aroha Booklet. The Te Aroha booklet issued by the Tourist Department in conjunction with the Chamber was eulogised by the chairman, who said the retiring president, and Mr Bradley, the secretary, had given a lot of time to the compilation of the matter contained therein. Te Aroha was being placed on the map by the circulation of the booklet by the Tourist Department, and in other directions: Opening on Sunday. Mr Gus. Walsh stated the question of the opening of the bath-house at the Domain on Sundays would be cm,.At the next meeting.
