The proprietors of the northern collieries state that numerous applications from miners for work in the idle pits arc still being received. The owners arc to meet to-morrow' to decide which pits shall he reopened. Former employees have been given an assurance that they will not he displaced in the event of the miners’ organisations changing their present hostile attitude.

Mr. .MacDonald, the chairman of the Northern Collieries Association, warns those strikers who now refuse to work that they will lose their employment permanently.
