Major-General Sir Charles Fergusson, late Governor-General of New Zealand, lunched with Their Majesties at Buckingham Palace. —r London cable.
Mr A. Morton, president of the National Dairy Association, was in Hamilton this morning. He left later in the day for Whakatane.
The Right Hon. J. G. Coates, Leader of the Opposition, arrived in Auckland from the South Island this morning. Later he will proceed lo Dargaville.
Mr F. W. Luxford, of Hamilton, returned by the Tofua yesterday after a visit to the Pacific Islands. He visited Samoa, where he was the guest of his brother, Mr J. 11. Luxford, Chief Judge of Western Samoa.
Air G. Martinengo, who was in Hamilton yesterday making arrangements for the appearance of the English violinist, Mr John Dunn, was a -member of the Breseians, a well-known musical combination which often toured New Zealand many years ago.
Captain C. P. White, Messrs TB. 'Murphy, J. 11. Russell, C. M. Hayward, C- H. Bardhouse, W. E. Redstone (Wellington), W. M. Stubbs (Martinborough), A. Martin (EgmontO, A. Yarndley (Stratford) and S. W- Whyte (Hawera) are at the Hamilton Hotel.
The Crown Prince Christian Frederik of Denmark, his brother Prince Knud, and his cousin, Prince Axel, arrived at Yokohama on Monday. They were welcomed by officials and greeted by nationals. The Royal visitors came by special train to Tokio and were given a reception at tho station by high officials, including Baron Sliidchara, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The following flag appointments are announced: —Admiral Sir Michael Hodges to be Commancler-in-Chief in the Mediterranean; Vice-Admiral Sir Cyril Fuller to be second Sea Lord; Vice-Admiral Vernon Haggard to be Gommander-in-Chief of the American and West Indies station; Vice-Admiral F. C. Dreycr to be. deputy chief of tiie naval staff; Rear-Admiral L. G. Preston to be Fourth Sea Lord.
Among those who arrived at Auckland from Sydney by the Ulimaroa yesterday were Captain J. D. Paul, chairman of directors of Boulton and Paul, Ltd., of Norwich, 11 ic firm that designed the airship 11101; Mr E. W. Armstrong, who has designed the new Christchurch Art Gallery; and Dr. M. Axford, of Auckland, who lias spent Hie past three years carrying out postgraduate work in England.
