Claw 293 The Dominion Compressed Yeast Co., Ltd., of Christchurch and Auckland, offer a Solid Silver Challenge Shield (at present held by Geo. Findlay, Esq., Auckland), for competition amongst bakers, whose place of business is in the North Island, on the following terms and conditions. The competition is limited to bakers whose place of business is in the North Island. Every entrant must be a bona fide user of D.Y.C. Compressed Yeast, and use it regularly and exclusively in the whole of his fermentations. Every entry is accepted, and every exhibit judged, subject to the foregoing condition, and the decision of the Company as to whether any entrant is or is not a bona fide user of ; Compressed Yeast, shall be final. The Shield will be awarded to the best Upright Tin Loaf of White Bread made from a dough in which the fermentation was conducted by Compressed Yeast alone. A double Upright Tin Loaf must be submitted, and the same will be broken by the Judges only, so as to show the break. There are no restrictions as to the addition of milk, sugar, fat, or other improvers. Only one entry may be made by any competitor, and the same must be in the name of a Master Baker only. The bread must be baked not later than Wednesday, May 21st., 1930, and every loaf from local as well as outside districts must be sen' through the Parcels Post Office on that day. Deliveries by hand to the Exhibition Hall will not be accepted. Before any prize is awarded the successful competitor will be required to produce the Parcels Post Office receipt showing that the loaf was posted not later than Wednesday, 21st., May, 1930. Arrangements have been made that all exhibits will be kept unopened, under suitable conditions, in the original package in which they were despatched, until Tuesday, 27th. May, when they will be opened, staged and judged. This will place all exhibits as far as possible, on an equality, as no exhibit will be placed at. the disadvantage of being staged for any time prior to judging. Where the entry form shows that the winning l oa f W as made by a Foreman or Operative Baker, a cash prize of £5 will be awarded to such Foreman cr Operative. The Shield will be held for one year only by the successful competitor. Entry fee, 2/-. Parcels to be marked on the outside wrapper, Class No. 293.
