The State Government is said to be contemplating a change in the railway service covering employees governed bv federal Arbitration Court awards, under which they were paid Lor a 48-hours’ week though they only work 44 hours. It is now' proposed to pay them for the actual time worked, thereby saving £Boo,ooo_annually.
