DAMAGE TO CARGO AND MAILS. STRUCTURE NOT MUCH AFFECTED. VESSEL LEAVES PORT. United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel.—Copyright. (Received March 17, 8.5 a.m.) COLOMBO, March 16. In spite of the assurance of local agents there appears to have been considerable cargo and Australian mails damaged by the fire on the Comorin. Trunks, suit cases, etc., were brought to the Customs baggage room late last night, and passengers were seen sorting ancl seeking to rescue wearing apparel, which had suffered from fire and water. Expert opinion is to the effect that the ship has not suffered much structural damage. Post office clerks were sent aboard to examine the damaged bags and insured parcels and letters. The Comorin left port yesterday.
