ANNUAL REGATTA.

Following is a list showing the positions of the placed crews: —

AT NGARUAWAHIA. CROWD OF SIXTEEN THOUSANDVERY COMPLETE ARRANGEMENTS. Sixteen thousand people attended the Ngaruawahia Regatta on Saturday. This was 4000 less tiian the year previous, which was accounted for largely by the fact that, last year a big Maori tennis tournament- was -in progress at -Ngaruawahia and the opening of the new Maori hostel there attracted thousands of natives from all ever New Zealand. The Regatta included practically the whole of these natives in last year's attendance. This year the regatta- both as an acquatic carnival and as a fair, was probably ii)e largest dual outdoor attraction the Dominion has to offer. Almost the whole of the side shows at present touring New Zealand were there, the few that were not having had to he refused owing to the lack of space. The rowing events saw the quality of the province in competition and there were some keen finishes. The arrangements were very complete in every way and the day being beautifully fine, everything passed off without a hitch.
