(by electric telegraph.—copyright). London, January 2S. Ax a banquet given by tlio Queensland Meat Export Company, one hundred sat clown. General Willis hoped that depots would be extended to India and Hongkong, as lie was convinced that frozen meat would be better, and would be obtained at a cheaper rate than the existing rations. January 29.
Captain Rice, of the Navy, speaking at the Queensland Meat Company's banquet, said State depots would certaintly increaso tho defensiva ro> eoutces of a garrison. Sir W- Herbert feared thai compulsory labelling would be found inb possible. Ho advised the company to open numerous stores for the exclusive sale of colonial meat. It was necessary too, to instruct the public as to tho best method of thawing. He pointed Out even the meat served at the banquet might have been better treated.
