WHATAWHATA SPORTS.
One of the most successful and enjoyable day's sport held in this district for some years past came off on the' 25th inst. (Wednesday), in the shape of athletic sport?. The weather was everything that could be wished for, and in spite of one or two drawbacks a most excellent programme was put through. After paying all prize moneys, a balance of 10s was in hand, which the'committee decided to hand over as a donation to the Old Men's Refuge, Hamilton. During the evening a performance was given by Bernard's Circus Company, greatly to the amusement of the natives here, The show being over shortly after 9 o'clock, a ball was held' in the school-house, the music and management throughout being all that could bo desired, thus ending, in the opinion of everyone, a most pleasant day's amusement.
