Replying to a communication from the Secretary of the Municipal Association of New Zealand as to whether borough councils are liable to be taxed in respect of their debentures under " The Land and Income Assessment Act, 1892," the Premier states that there is no intention to tax municipal corporations on their loaus, and that an amending Bill will be brought in next session to remove any doubt existing in tho matter. : The Education Board has decided that it could not allow a girl who had won a Board's scholarship to attend the Convent instead of the Gins' High School. The lonic left Plymouth for Wellington on Sunday.
