RAGLAN.

Weather,—Since the great downfall of last week, except Saturday afternoon and night, which were wet, fine weather has prevailed with great heat; averaging 85 degrees in the shade. The record of 92 was made during the week.

Crops.—A large quantity of oats are still out at Waitetuna and other parts .of the district, a considerable area nf. ground planted with potatoes has been flooded and the crop destroyed at Te Kopua, Karioi, and Waingaro. Flood.—The effects of the late great flood are of,a serious nature in many parts on the Bnapiike Road. The Waimanri bridge was carried away by the force of the water, The settlers tamed ont and with zeal erected a temporary' bridge so that communication will not be stopped. The Waitomotomo bridge is all right, but/was only saved by the removal of the debrif, which had collected against it, by the settlers in the neighbourhood, thus saving the bridge, and they are deserving of the thanks of the County Council and ratepavers. The mill dam it tho Wainui mill?, of Mr Rendell was carried away.. It is all but re-erected, and the mill will shortly be in full work again. There are heavy slips on the Mountain Road and in other parts nf the district, which will be a heavy tax upon the funds of the county, Mail.—ln spite of the weather and bad roads, Mr Sutton, our mail .contractor has had the mails delivered here within contract time, To-morrow- he puts on two or three coaches for Hamilton, as there are a great number of visitors returnintr home, whilst othors are waiting to come here. Sunday • sohooi Anniversart.- The anniversary services in connection with the Raglan Sunday-school were held here yesterday (Sunday). . Both in the morning and evening of that day a.large congregation assembled, a very large number of visitors being present,
