ROAD BOARD MEETINGS.
TAOTAOKOA BOARD. ■•■;,.' The above Board met at the Criterion Hotel, Cambridge, on Saturday, at noon. Present: Messrs McCaw, Miller,:, and Brunskill; The Chairman (Mr S. Seddon) wrote apologising for his absenoe,!aiid stating that the timber for No. ; 2 .bridge on the Whitehall Road had been delivered on the ground, and was stacked.to season. —Mr McCaw was voted to the chair, and the minutes of the previous meeting were duly confirmed. Whitkhali Road,—Mr Brnnskill and about five chains of this road, near Bridg- 1 water house needed re-pairing.-Mr McCaw endorsed Mr Brunskill's remarks, and' stated that his comoauy would shoily be doing a lot of work, up that tf ay and he trusted the roads would be in good order before the winter set in. It was resolved to leave the matter •in M Seddons' hands to;attend to—The re erection of No. 2 bridge on this road was deferred till next meeting, the timber not being sufficiently seasoned.;: Trout,—Mr Brunskill again brought up the subject of tront fry for the Taotnoroa streams,and Mr McCaw kindly undortook to 1 ascertain if any could be procured.—Mr Brunskill said if any could be obtained from Okoroire, he wonld gladly fetch them.
' AocoBNTS.-The followiug accounts were passed for payment:—6.-' Wattam, £4 6s: W. Souter and Co., £lO 15s 2d ; Interest on public debt, £4 10s Id.—At date the Board bad a credit balance at the bank of £lool9s sd.
OAMBRIDGE ROAD BOARD, r • .The above body met : at the Criterion Hotel, Cambridge, at 2.30 p.m. on Saturday. Present : Messrs J, Forrest (Chairman), M. H. Pickering, J, McCaw,. J. Taylor,and H.J. Paton.—The minutes of the meeting held on Novembor 19th, wore confirmed. . ; ;
Woeks.—The Chairman reported that he and Mr McCaw, as authorised at lest meetinc, had accepted T. Wattam's tender for works upon No. I Station Road, "the Cemetery Road, and the' Zig-zag Road, but the work was not yet done. Their action was approved, and it was decided to put a set of pipes across the last mentioned road.
Crouch's Contract.—ln this matter Mr Crouch claims for about 1900 yards of gravel taken out of certain pits and, ptit upon the main road, and the Chairman of the Board contends that only 1400 yards were taken out, The matter has been under discussion for some time and Crouch had threatened legal proceedings, but he was invited to attend the Board's meeting and discuss the matter. 'The Chairman explained what he knew of the measurement*, eto., and then Mr Crouoh was asked in to giye his version, The- result was a very desultory discussion between the Chairman and Mr Cronoh, in which the" You're a liar "contention seemed, the main argument, flowovcr it was : finally resolved to meet upon the ground, with an engineer and endeavour to arrive at an amioable arrangement. Accounts,-The following accounts were passed, including interim accounts paid since laak meeting (—Public debt. £2l4s3d; R. Wayte, £6O jR. Fitztrorald, i 9 3s; T. Wattam, £25 15s 4d ; H. Fitzgerald, £Bl4s 9d. This was all the business.
