TE AWAMUTU PUBLIC LIBRARY.

The annual perioral meeting of subscribers to the above is to bo held at the Library, Te Awamutu, un Monday .next, 23rd inst, at 8 o'clock'p,in. Tho following are extracts from the report and balance-sheet for the past 12 months, and which must be considered highly satisfactory:—The number of subscribers during the year was 77, shewing the Library to have increased it* popularity. Ordinary subscription received £33 2s lid, and total receipts from all sources £s2!)slod. Kxpendituro £SO 15s Sd, leaving a credit balance on 31st December of £llos 2d. The total receipts include a sum of £5, advanced by Mr J. F. Andrew as n loan to the Library for six months free of interest, to enable the committee to send off an order for £2O worth of boob in Novom ber last, and for which the commitee desire to record and to express to Mr Andrew their sincere thanks. The number of books issued during tho year was 2023. The new books now on order from Mudie's, London, should arrive early next month, and will no doubt assist in still further popularising the Library. The readmiKooin has been kept' open daily, and has maintained its attractivoiwss, The Magazino Club established therewith has proved a success,' the actual net cost to tho Library of the whole of the illustrated papers and magazines for the year being only 12s !)J, Tho small Library reservo situated in Palmer street' Iras been let for a term of three years at a small rental.
