Band of HorE.-Tho usual monthly meeting of this society was held on Friday, January sth, the Rev, W. Gittos presiding, and ia his happy manner kept the meeting alivo throughout the evening by his pertinent remarks and excellent advice to the young folks, Among the items on the programme an address; by the Rev. Mr Micklejohn was listened to with great interest, Captain Scott, of the Salvation Army, Hamilton, also spoke very earnestly against the use of intoxicants, emphasising his remarks by relating several incidents which had como under his personal observation, Mr Patterson, of musical fame, was also present, and greatly addod to the onjoyment of the evening by officiating at the organ and accompanying several of the Boloists. Mr K. Bosanko was very successful in his rendering of " Let Me Like a Soldier Fall," and was most enthusiastically received. Miss J, Miller favoured the company with "The Light of Other Days," and Miss Ellis sang " The Gates of the West," both receiving much applause. Recitations by Miss A. Thompson and Miss Bortio Eees wore well roceived, and the meeting was brought to a close by tho Chairman soliciting names for the pledgobook, that all might commenco the New Your under tho protection of total abstineuce.
