THE SILVER QUESTION.

Senator Stewart has moved a resolution in favour of a Free Coinage Bill as an amendment to Senator McPherson's resolution suspending the purchase of silver. It is generally, believed in Washington that nothing will be done this session with regard to silver. New Yokk, January 6. President Cleveland states that he will be willing to accept Senator Bland's Silver Bill in the event of the repeal of the (Sherman Act. Mr Harker in moving in Congro6B to suspend the purchase of silver until all parts of the world agreed upon a fixed value, failed to prove that tho Cleveland Government had incurred enormous losses in the purchase of silver.
January S. Senator Stewart is organising a powerful obstruction to repeal the Silver Rcjiurchase Act. The Boston Stock Exchange has passed a motion in favour of the repeal.
