PICNIC AT TAMAHERE.

Owing to the unfavourable weather on Monday hist, the picnic had to be postponed till the following day (Tuesday). The morning broke fairly line, but the weather iu the afternoon was decidedly worse, However, over one hundred adnlh and children turned up, and all seemed to thoroughly enjoy an excellent afternoon's sport. Mr and Mrs L, B, Ewen, who have always been to the front in these matters, took upon themselves the responsibility of entertaining the children, Some £slos was competed for in prizes, this amount having been collected by the school children from the residents of the district. Evory child gat a prize, and consequently went home happy. The grown-up people amused themselves with cricket and tilting in the ring, the Indies proving that they were quite capable of holding their own with tho lance, SVus Minnie Steele taking the first prize and Miss L.
