The Egmont Farmers' Union (Limited), report under date :— Haweba, December 22nd, 1892.—We held a clearing sale of dairy stock, etc., at Mr W. Jameson's farm, Finnerty Road, Ngairo, on Thursday, the 15th inst. There was only a small attendance, and bidding was rather slow, but the cows being a choice lot, sold readily enough, some of them realising over £7. The other stock as well as sundries were also disposed of under the hammer. We quote : Milkors, £4 7s Gd to £7 12s 6d ; 2 to 2A-year-old heifers, in calf, £3 to £4 15s. Our sals at Stratford, on Friday, the lGth inst., was not quite so good as the previous one, though the entries were nearly as large, but there was a dulness in the market that made itself felt throughout the sale, howevor, the bulk of the cattle changed hands before loaving the yards. We quote : Two to 2.i-year-old steers, £3 12s Gd to £4 12s Gd; 18-months' to 2-year-old steers, £3 2s to £3 9s 6d ; 12 to 18-months' steers £2 lis to £2 15s; cows and heifers in calf, £3 15s to £5 18s; 2 to heifers, £3 5s Gd to £3 9s Gd. We had a fair attendance at our Manaia. sale, on Wednesday, the 21st inst., but though we had a magnificent lot of cattle entered, biddinf, was slacker than W3 have experienced during the past 18 months and very little business was done under the hammer, though several lines changed hands after the sale, prices being from 5s to 15s per head lower than they were a month ago. We quote : Fat bullocks, £G to £G ss; forward, do., £4 15s to £4 17s Gd ; 18-months steers, £2 lGs to £3 8s; cows in calf. £3 15s to £4 10s.
