SCAB IN NEW ZEALAND.
The most important question under discussion at the lute slock conference ill Wellington when repre-ontatives of the different Australian colonies were present, was upon the sobjee.t of the removal of the restrictions imposed by New South Wales and Victoria against allowing sheep from New Zealand to be imported int> those colonios. To breeders of .stud sheep this was a matter of very vital importance and from the report of the |»r oceedings it was generally comidered that, as the one or two localities in this colony last under the hann were known or believed to he now tree from the scourge, th.it. the Australian restrictions would be soon removed and consider able surprise therefore was no doubt occasioned throoghout the colony at the announcemeot appearing in the papers a few days ago, that prohibition against landing our sheep in New South Wales was to he continued for another 12 months. Mr McNicol, who it will bo remembered, attended the stick conference, at once put himself in communication with Mr Ritchie the head of the Stock Department, asking for some explanation and to which the following reply has been received: —"Marlborough reported to day clean, awaiting Nelson. Miranda clean. I hope to gazette clean next week, but cannot say whether other Colonies will gazette imoiediatelv, but I think so. Signed— .f. IJ. RirciUK."
