HAMILTON BOROUGH PETITION.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—When I read the list of those voters charged with a breach of the Local Elections Act in connection with the late Mayoral election in Hamilton, I could not help call'ng to mind the very apt remark made by Judge Conolly when dealing with the case of poor old Chariie Tuck A plea was being made by his counsel on account of his previous good conduct, and evidence was given and letters were put in all bearing 111 this direction. His Honor is reported to have uttered sentiments somewhat to this effect: Yes ; it's all i*ery well, but in my exparience it is always the goody-goody, respectable people who are found so frequently guilty of imposing upon others through being credited with virtues thoy do not possess. Here we have another case in point,—Yours, etc., 80-Pew. Taotaoroa, Bth November, ISO 2.
