The Government have under consideration aseheine for thi more complete amalgamation of the Justice and Native Departments than the partial combination effected when Mr Cadman took the portfolio of Justice. Tlio details will probably be settled when Mr Cadman lvtnrns from the South. The United Farmers' Alliance purchased Messrs F. K. Jackson and Co., auctioneering business and yards at Palmerston, Fielding, and Birmingham. MrMcKenzie has been appointed auctioneer to the Alliance. At the R.M. Court two proprietors of dressmaking establishments were fined one shilling and aiulit shilling costs, for a breach of che Factory Act, in not giving their girls a half-holiriav on Saturday. They pleaded that they had given their assistants a whole holiday on Wednesday, and the girls were willing to work on Saturday. GISBORNE, Last Night. The Tiilnga Biy Hotel was totally destroyed by fire at o o'clock this morning. Very liitle was sived. The fire was discovered in the ceiling of the dining room. Mr Kirk, the proprietor, estimates his loss as being heavy. He had just sold the property to Mr Hill, of Lvttelton. The insurances are: Nnrwicb Union, £300 on the building; Phoenix, £400 on the building and £200 on the furniture; Live»pool, London and Globe, £200; and Allianoe, £200 on the furniture and effects.
