KIRIKIRIROA ROAD BOARD
THE usual monthly meeting of the Kinkiriroa Road Board was held at the Waikato County Council Chambers, yesterday. There were present: Messrs T. H. White, chairman, R. ttillelt, B. J. Mac Lean and I. Coates. Tukks.—Oapt. Steele wrote stating that he had received instructions from Mr Hall to remove the overhanging trees on the Piako road, and that he would have the W °Manga\vhaba Road.—The following tenders were received for claying about SO chains i.f this road, near Taupiri, viz. : Arthur Hall, 2s 5d per cubic yard ; Karaka K Tarawhiti, £09. It was decided not to accept either tender, as it is likely, that with tho alteration of the bridge mentioned below the work will he unnecessary. TmjiwAY Road.—There was only one tender for formation on this road, near Mr C. A. Davis', viz.: John Dixon, at jm per chain, and culverts 10s per set. —The tender being below the estimate, it was A petition was received from twenty-two ratepayers, urginc on the board the ndvisableness of epoetins a bridge •xt the old crossing on the Whangamam, which would open a better and more direct line of road to the properties of Mr H. Welch and others than the present circuitous route, and which could bo kept in repair at considerably less expense. Sandes to prepare plans and furnish an estimate of the probable cost of the bridge for next meetme , , the chairman to arrange terms. Newcastle Road.—Mr D. Henderson wrote calling attention to the state of the road between Lots 97 and 112, Newcastle North. The road is impassable for either foot or cart traffic, and in some places the water from the Board's drain runs across the road into his property. The chairman was requested to inspect tho road and re--I)OIJ \YSIENTS.— The following accounts were passed for paymeut:—Lindsay, £o ; Hall and Railway, 5s 3d ; Hnddnn. £4; Johnson, £7 10s; Kiele.y, £5 4, 2d ; clerk and collector, £10 5s Gd ; R. Waite, £4 Gs 3d ; Slade, 7s Gd ; Barton, Is 10d; U. i. Mella r-a, i'l 4s. , _ . , , Drains.— Mr B. J. Mac Lean reported that the side drains on the Hukanui road are becoming overgrown, and are dangerous to stock. It was decided to get them cleared. Cauktakkk.—Mγ Mac Lean stated that he had engaged W. Mellar as caretaker of the Komala bridce.
